What is a way that you can get salon- done acrylic nails off w/o ruining you nails or going back to the salon?

I've already gotten two off by soaking them in hot water and peeling them off. But it like, ruined my real nail. I have no time to go to the salon and get them off because I have a tournament in a few hours. I really need them off! 10 pts. for something that works %26amp; fast! ThanksWhat is a way that you can get salon- done acrylic nails off w/o ruining you nails or going back to the salon?
Soaking them in pure acetone is the only way to safely remove acrylic nails.

Do not rip them off, pull them off, pry them off, or tear them off in any way. In short, do NOT force them off. This WILL damage your natural nails.

Soak in pure acetone for 20-30 minutes, and GENTLY scrape the softened acrylic off with either an orange stick, or a metal cuticle pusher. If some of the acrylic doesn't come off, then just re-soak them for another 5 minutes or so, and try again. Only remove one finger at a time from the acetone, and remove the acrylic from it. If you take all your fingers out of the acetone, it will harden back up quite quickly, and you will have to start all over. What is a way that you can get salon- done acrylic nails off w/o ruining you nails or going back to the salon?
They sell acrylic nail remover at most grocery stores now. Wal-Mart and Target both carry it. It's in the aisle usually next to or near the nail polish remover. Just get a bottle, and use a bowl that you don't plan on eating out of ever again and follow the directions on the back of the bottle.
There's really no way to get them off without damaging your nails or your skin. Even if you wait and let them fall off, your nails underneath will be damaged simply from them being there.

As the previous poster has stated, if you want to soak them off, use acetone. It will (eventually) liquefy the acrylic, but it takes a long time. I have sat at the salon with my fingertips in acetone for an hour, and still had to force them off.

The only other way to get them off is to pick them off. Use a nail clipper to try to get under the acrylic, and you can chip away at them a little at a time.

If you're in a rush, your best bet might be to leave the acrylic in place, but cut down your nails to a more usable length. Just use a good nail clipper to trim them down and file the ends so that they're smooth.
Soak your finger nails in acetone. You can get it by the nail polish remover, at the grocery store. Or you can just soak your nails in nail polish remover, but it takes a few minutes longer to dissolve
soak nails in acetone nail polish remover this will help some but still may cause some damage during removal. or you could go to a dept store and buy acrylic nail removal you soak your nails in it also and it will help.
I heard soaking the nails in acetone for 10 min works. And then gently pulling them off.

Emphesis on the gently.
go to cvs they have a special nail remover. it's with the nail polish remover

Can you take off Acrylic nails at home?

Do you have to take off the Acrylic tips at the salon or can you do it at home with nail polish remover? I was told you can soak the nails for awhile in nail polish remover. Can you take off Acrylic nails at home?
I had a roommate who did that, and an aunt. They both regretted it. My roommate got an infection in her nail bed, and it was very painful for both. (My aunt was smart enough to stop and go to a salon. They know how to take them off with the least damage.)Can you take off Acrylic nails at home?
You're welcome. I hope everything went well!

You can get pure acetone from the beauty supply store. You have to soak for a few minutes then wipe them off with a paper towel then continue the process till they are gone. It takes long time but it is actually better for your nails then getting them taken off at ';mall'; nail places or places like that where they soak then cut or pull them off which pulls off layers of your nails with it.
You can, but I highly don't recommend it. They can be painful and ripping them off or soaking them in nail polish remover will ruin the real nail. They will become fragile and torn.
yes you can remove them at home you want to lett them soak in a bowl bath of acetone nailpolish than will eat away the glue and they will fall off but it takes time and can be slitly painfull.
I suggest getting them taken off at the salon. It does less damage to your nail bed.
take em off at thaa salon its less painful and less messy :]

  • How do I get Acrylic Nails off?

It wasn't my idea to get them in the first place but a friend paid for it so I got it done. I have a baby and Ive scratched him one too many times. (By Accident of Course!) Please tell me there is a quick pain free to get these things off ASAP!How do I get Acrylic Nails off?
You can soak them in acetone for a long time, maybe 20-30 minutes or so and then just try and rub off the acrylic. You can also put acetone on cotton pads and put one on each nail and then wrap each nail in plastic wrap or foil and leave it on for about 20 minutes. That can be a quicker process since the acetone is more concentrated on each nail. Just be patient, it will come off eventually.

And make sure to put plenty of lotion on your fingers afterwards because your fingertips will be extremely dry from the acetone.

If they are relatively new, then ripping them off or chewing them off will rip apart your natural nail and be painful. After soaking in acetone you can use a fake nail to lift up the acrylic and nail part off of your natural nail but you still don't want to just rip because you will be destroying your natural nails. How do I get Acrylic Nails off?
well coming from nail tech im very happy to hear that you want to get that acrylic off of your nails!!!they're sooo bad for you!!

1)get acetone at any beauty supply store make sure it says nail polish remover with acetone!!

2)put the acetone in a small bowl

3)put HOT water in a bigger bowl make sure the smaller bowl will fit in the bigger bowl!!

4)put the smaller bowl in the bigger so that the acetone will stay warm let them soke for a bit then the acrylic will start to dissolve and then you can just take off the residue!!keep repeating(soke and take off acrylic)until it is completely off!!

    good luck !!!=]
fill up a bowl or some sort of container with nail polish remover any kind i suggest non acetone since you have a baby and the smell might not be good for him/her but if your nails are put on with acrylic powder or stuff like that youll need acetone rmover just open up a few windows it should be ok but definitly dont do it near your baby soak your nails in that for a little bit im not sure how long but while your nails are in every once in a while wiggle the nails front to back (while in the remover so it can get under the nails and dissolve the glue) it might hurt to move them a bit because the glue is tough but your a mom im sure youve been though much worse:) lol unless you adopted or something also if they used acrylic paste make sure you have a towel, rag or something to wipe away the acrylic goo/paste well anyways if that doesnt work go to the place were you had them done and they will remove them for you most likley free of charge

p.s. make sure you wash and put lotion on your hands when your done and i very highly suggest you coat your finger tips not the nail with potrolium jelly/vasoline to protect your hands from the acetone its harsh stuff:) i hope evrything works out and you get those nails off fast:) good luck:) be careful
I ripped mine off with my teeth and it only took about ten minutes, but it wasn;t completely pain free. You've had a kid so you should be able to handle the pain. Just grab one edge with you teeth and pull until you feel it coming off and then don't stop pulling because shortly after that the acrylic nail will just come off. You should wait atleast 3-4 weeks before getting them off because the longer you wait the less pain.
You can go to a salon and get them removed with a solution - but the cheapest way is to bite them off... don't chew on them; just gently try and lift the edges up with your teeth or a credit card. Using a credit card or driver's license is probably less painful if you try sliding it under the edges until it pops off. It will seem somewhat painful at first, but after you do it, it's a relief.
wait for them to start lifting on the sides, then get a fork, or something that you can fit underneath and pop them off. that's the quickest way i've found.

    OR

you can soak them in nailpolish remover, but make sure it has acetone in it!!!!
Depnding on how much of the overlay powder you have on, you can soak them off with pure acetone.
Soak them in Pure Acetone for 10-15 minutes, Then take a Orange wood stick, and push the softened nail off.
Soak your fingernail in pure acetone you can get it at Wal*marts about $1.97
There are kits you can buy at Target that you soak your hands in and they will peel off ( with a little pull from you) Or you can just pull them off...it really doesn't hurt!! I've done it
you have to buy acitone and soak your fingers for about a half hour or 45 minutes this is the only way to not cause any damge to your nails and with no pain
soak your nails in acetone nail polish remover. they should dissolve.. if not go back and have them taken off. should be about 5 $
    well u need acrylic remover
    soak in nail polish remover
soak your nails in a bowl of nail polish remover for 15-20 min
Join a volleyball or softball team...that did it for me

I would say, '; I'm not a fake anything, but you are quite rude to judge me on something so trivial. It says a lot about you.';I like to wear acrylic nails but i recently had a guy tell me i was fake beauty because i wear them. What is a?
    Hm.

If, for some reason, it makes you feel better about yourself, then wear them.

I've told this to my girlfriend. Most guys don't like fake things on a girl, especially a bunch of make up that is like a whole mask.

Natural is better. Don't listen to commercials and ads. They'll make you think you're ugly, when in fact, you're not.
YOU are not what is fake, what's fake is the NAILS - nothing more.

If someone wears glasses, and looks better with them on, does that make them fake beauty? No.
If this makes me fake, then pretty much all girls are fake.

We do this to feel good about ourselves, and for guys who only care about girls who pretty themselves up!

Is there a safe way to take acrylic nails off?

I have heard the stories of my friends just eventually ripping theirs off and that it hurts really bad, one even said the salon did that. Shouldn't a salon have some sort of dissolving solution or am I just going to have to deal with the pain when the day comes I don't want them anymore??? ThanksIs there a safe way to take acrylic nails off?
They have a solution for it, but it doesn't do much. After you soak your nails in it, they still clip them and pry them off. It'd be the same way if you did it yourself. You can even buy the ';solution'; at Sally's or other drug stores.

There's really no way around it. That's why acrylics are so addictive, you get another full set to cover your crap nails. They look so good though, so whatever, why not right?

Good luck!Is there a safe way to take acrylic nails off?
I stopped getting them to much maintenance

I just grew them out and keep clipping them as they grew.
put your finger tips in nail polish remover for about 5-10 minutes. There should be a difference when taking them off then. That is what my nail place does.
soak them in nail polish remover. Make sure it is acitone. If you want to rip them off start in the middle. so they crack down the center, that way you can take them off in 2 complete sections. It isn't fun, but...yeah, it works.
soak your fingers in warm water for about 15 minutes and they should come right off.
soak in acetone(nail polish remover) rub and soak..soak and rub..then buff off rest
Soak them in nail polish remover for about 5 or 10 minutes, (make sure it has isotol in it), and they will slide right off. GUARANTEED SATISFACTION !!!!!!!
i soaked them in acetone and used naile clippers to take them off, it hurts a lil sometimes, but thats the best way i know of
A salon can do it with a dissolving solution, and it doesn't hurt at all. The nail just sort of disappears by itself. It usually doesn't cost that much to do, depending on the place. Otherwise I soak my nails in either acetone or hot water and baby oil. You're hands will feel funny afterwards, but it's better than ripping them off.
OK, here's what I have to do when it's time for mine to come off. Fill a small glass bowl with acetone nail polish remover. The bowl should be big enough for all ten fingers to go in, but not too big. Next go outside and get a handful of small rocks. Next rinse off the rocks with warm water, then place them in the bottom of the bowl in the acetone. Place your fingers in the acetone. Give them a few minutes to start dissolving. Next, start rubbing your acrylic nails against the rocks at the bottom of the bowl. This will take the nails off in roughly 30 minutes. Then you can file what's left, which shouldn't be much. No ripping or prying of the nails. The rocks do all the work. Ih ave to do this when it's time for a new set. Works every time, and it's painless, and won't damage the natural nail.

What's the difference between Gel and Acrylic nails?

gel is better for your nails , it comes off easier , the paint doesnt wear off or chip and its more expensive , but i think its worth it.

acrylic turns yellow in the sun , the paint at the tip starts to wear off and chip after a little and its kinda cheap.

with acrylic they just put a top coat on it of clear nail polish but with gel they put a layer of gel over it as a topcoat instead of regular nail polish

(:What's the difference between Gel and Acrylic nails?
gel can be more expensive. they do not damage ur natural nail like acyrlics do.

with acrylics ur nails have to be filled right down, so when they come off they are paper thin.

gel can be applied right onto ur nail with minimal buffing and is a safer option. What's the difference between Gel and Acrylic nails?
on gel nails the white part of the nail doesn't turn yellow like regular acrylic nails do. gel is also a little more expensive.
I only know of acrylic nails
ONe is shinnyer than the other...
one comes off easier than the other
    never heard of gel nails...

    i suppose that's the difference?

What Is The Difference Between Solar and Acrylic Nails?

Is one better than the other? What Is The Difference Between Solar and Acrylic Nails?
Solar nails are similar to acrylic but are made with a slightly different product. They are not extensions like other acrylic nails because they are applied directly to your own natural nail.

Solar nails are just like a French manicure with all the pampering but without the hassle. They are applied in a two step application. After your nails have been prepared for the application by cleaning and buffing your nails and preparing the nail plate then your solar nail application can begin.

The first thing your nail technician will do to apply solar nails is to brush on the “white part” of the French nail. Then the next application is the “pink part”, which goes over the “white”. The acrylic is the “pink”.

Solar nails are the no hassle artificial nails. They do not need to have nail polish so after the pink part is added you are on your way.

Solar nails do not chip, are long lasting, and also help to strengthen your nails all in a French manicure style. Your nail technician will buff your new solar nails and they will be shiny and ready for anything.

If you like to tan, solar nails are wonderful as they do not turn yellow as some artificial nails do when you visit your favorite tanning salon.

Solar nails only need refilled about every 3 weeks. So, they are more convenient and economical than most artificial nails.

More models and television stars are now using solar nails. They can be applied in less time and last so much longer. These nails are really for ladies on the go. The ease of caring for these nails is incredible. It will be like your own natural nails.

When you step out with your solar nails you will not have to worry about them lifting off, chipping, or turning yellow. Just care for your hands and nails like always and you will never have a problem. You will be able to do anything that you normally do without worrying about being easy on your artificial nails.

Your nail technician can explain the great advantages to using solar nails instead of other artificial nails. You will be so pleased with your new solar nails that you will not want to ever use any other artificial nail. What Is The Difference Between Solar and Acrylic Nails?

    I didn't see no difference...maybe the price.
The only Solar I have ever seen with nails is Solarnail acrylic By Creative Nail Design. Solar is an acrylic by Creative Nail Design, just one of the acrylic formulations that they carry, i.e. Solarnail liquid and powder, Retention+ liquid which is used with Perfect Color Powder. The product does cost more than most brands of acrylic out there. They were made to be applied very thinly without breaking. The white and and the pink are both acrylic.

Will swimming in a pool make my acrylic nails come off?

I got acrylics done last week.

and plan on going swimming in a pool this weekend.

is swimming going to make one or two fell off its happend to me once before but that was because i was over due for a fill.

Will swimming in a pool make my acrylic nails come off?
Generally, acrylic nails are resistant to water, and chlorine. However, the adhesive that is used to fasten the tips to your nails - if you have tips applied, is not water resistant. The chemical used in nail glues, and other similar glues like Krazy glue is called Cyanoacrylate. This chemical tends to break down when exposed to water for extended periods of time. So, while acrylic nails are fine in pools, the water could possibly have broken down the cyanoacrylate and that may have led to a few of your nails coming off. I'm not saying that is definitely what happened, but it is possible, especially since you were overdue for a fill. Will swimming in a pool make my acrylic nails come off?

Once you remove them, you are going to find quite a mess underneath. You'll need to buff them and possibly cover them with a clear coat to have any hope of having them look like ';regular'; nails. Unfortunately, those who apply them usually rough up your nail bed to make the acrylic adhere. It can take up to 6 months for the line to grow out.How do I remove acrylic nails?
dip your nails in really strong nail polish remover. the glue (and the nails) should come right off.
Get pure acetone at the local pharmacy, and get a new color for your nails!! They should remove easily in the acetone!! Goodluck!!
Nail Polish Remover usually works. Or try to take him off yourself carefully. But even after you take them off they'll have glue all over your nails and it looks tacky.
Just put them in acetone nail polish remover and they should come off. ( Make sure you leave them in there for a while!!) (But not to long!!!!!)
ACETONE...not fingernail polish remover. Acetone melts acrylic nails right off. I use it to take my nails off.

What is a safe way to remove acrylic nails at home?

How do I remove acrylic nails safely?

Clip the tips (length) down as far as you need. Get some pure acetone from any store that sells regular polish remover. Take some aluminum foil cut into squares, and some cotton balls.

Wet the cotton ball with acetone, lay it on the nail and cover with the foil, as tight as possible. Repeat all 10 nails or one hand at a time. Do not peek or open the foil for at least 20 minutes, then one at a time, remove the foils and with a wood pusher - orange wood stick- scrape the acrylic off.. it should come right off.. you can repeat if some traces are left. If you peek, the acrylic will start to harden immediately, so it's best to be patient :)

When you get it all off make sure you give your self a healthy dose of some good hand cream as the acetone is very drying to the surrounding skin. What is a safe way to remove acrylic nails at home?
You have to do it just like the pros do.Go to the drug store and buy some ACETONE and soak them. When the first layer gets soft remove it with paper towel or emery board (you don't plan to use again)and repeat.PURE ACETONE not plain old nail polish remover. What is a safe way to remove acrylic nails at home?
get some real acetone get cotton balls soak cotton in acetone put on nails wrap finger in foil leave in on for about 30 mins then the nails will peeal off.
what you should do is soak then in rubbing alcohol (itll make your fingers feel like crap) then get a toothpick er something like a toothpick and go around the fake part (it will hurt no matter what you do itll hurt) but go around the fake part and loosen it up move the toothpick in littli by little so it wont hurt as bad but they should come off pretty good (they do leave ur real nail looking like crap!!)

If acrylic nails are so bad, then why do people still wear them?

I've always wanted to try acrylic nails. But my aunt told me that it's not a one time thing, %26amp; my mom says it's way bad for your nails. I just wanted to try them like to see if it's something i would ever want to do. So i guess the real question is... What is really so bad about acrylic nails %26amp; why are they so popular? If acrylic nails are so bad, then why do people still wear them?
They're not really that bad if you get them done, and keep them filled. I've noticed the most damage when I've had them, removed them, got them again, and removed them and so on. They're bad for your nails because they have to file and buff off some of the layers of your nail to give the false nails something to cling to. When I get the falsies off, my real nails are paper thin and scratched up looking and awful. I've seen some people that this doesn't happen to, though. And my natural nails are thin to begin with.If acrylic nails are so bad, then why do people still wear them?
People wear them either because they can't grow their nails long or their nails are really weak when they're long. The downsides to acrylic nails are that you do have to get them ';filled in'; every 2 weeks so the cost adds up; also they make your nails underneath them really weak and thin; also you can get a nail fungal infection wearing them which won't hurt you but looks gross and can take a year to cure; also it's hard to clean underneath them really well so it can get not so hygienic under there; also it hurts to have them put on and it hurts to have them taken off; and they can look a little ghetto especially if you go too long or too bright. The plus side is that you have long, strong, nails. I think you should get them once just to see what you think. It's not going to hurt you to wear them for a while. Then, if you get sick of getting the fill-ins or your don't like them you can have them removed. I think I've probably had them at least a dozen times. I end up not liking them and having them taken off but I don't regret trying it.
Acrylics are not bad for your nails.

Your nails get ruined when you decide that ';cheaper is better'; and walk into a dirty salon that will do your nails for 20 bucks. Those salons care more about your money than your health, so they'll use an electric drill to shave away your natural nails, slap cheap acrylic on, and when you go back to get them removed, they'll rip them off, causing your nails to be paper thin and gross looking.

If you do your research and find a proper salon, they'll take care of your nails so that you will be able to enjoy acrylic nails without getting your natural ones damaged.

    Hope that helps! xo
it just makes everyday task harder thats the only con but i personally don't mind getting mine done but i recently stopped biting my nails and whenever i start i taste my clear nail polish which is nasty so it makes me stop and my nails have grown so long so now i dont have to waste money on the fakes one i can just have my natural ones. try this to help your own grow or if you want go to the salon and try the acrylic to see if you'll like em if not you can always have them removed
They'ree popular causethey're'e pretty and super thick/strongThey'rere typically $30-40 and last about 2 weeks. My only problem with them is that i don't have the special stuff to take em off, so i have to result to painfully breaking/tearing them off, then my nails are wrecked. Lol But i still like them ;]
If smoking kills you, then why do people still do it?

If flat ironing your hair damages it, then why do people still do it?

If lemons are bad for teeth enamel, then why do people still eat themmmmm?

Just because people do it doesn't make it not bad for your nails guurrl
Some people think they look good, there are probably people with nail problems that would like to cover them up as well. People do so many terrible things to their bodies in the name of vanity, I think fake nails are definitely the lesser of many evils lol.
well your mom is right.. when u get them off ur nails are SUPER thin and break way easy... there very pretty (thats y people still use them) in fact im wearing them now :P but there pretty :D
i still wear them, cause i love them.
because...they pretty i guess! i dont know..why do women wear glue-in weave when it breaks their hair? nobody knows.
    cuz theyre pretty [:

Can you get acrylic nails on short and weak nails?

Hii i am thinking about getting acrylic nails but my nails are very short and weak can i get acrylic nails? Can you get acrylic nails on short and weak nails?
I have had short nails for years and have always had ';fake'; nails. I too, have very weak nails. Instead of acrylic nails, I get the gel nails, because they are a little stronger than the acrylic. However, you've got to remember than when you decide to stop wearing the fake nails, your real nails will be very brittle and soft (more so than they are now.) It will take about 2-3 months for them to grow out and get stronger.

Another alternative to the fake nails is to add a gelatin supplement to your diet and paint your nails regularly with a strengthener. Can you get acrylic nails on short and weak nails?
Not a good idea, acrylic is nothing but chemical. Take good care of your names by eating right and keeping nail strengthener on them, something as simple as Sally Hanson Hard as Nails would be a great start, and never ever bite them.

I can almost guarantee you'll start to see a difference in the very near future. And if you decide to have them done professionally never go to a shop that doesn't use quality products and fall short on the state codes.
you could but i wouldn't advise it cause acrylic nails tend to make your natural nail even softer after its removed.why don't you rather just french paint your natural nail

  • Anyone like to do their own acrylic nails or just put on full nails? I got a few great tips!!?

Has anyone seen that new glittery french manicure? Where the tips instead of white are a crinkly, chopped up, irridecent cellaphane? Its like that really cool irridecent plastic like paper, very thin and transparent, that you wrap gifts with instead of tissue paper. Well it is that stuff only crinkled and cut into very small, odd, miss-matched shapes (confetti like). It comes in a plastic tube-like container with a turning top that has a pour, sprinkle or close option for the lid; at Micheals Craft store. So far I have seen 2 colors in the glitter section. There was turquose with blue, pink and purple irridecents and a clear with blues, greens, pinks and purple irridecents. They are about $2 to $3 a jar and there's a lot of it, .5 oz./14g. So if you know how to do acrylic nails then this is a fun, home pampering night. You can do it on the whole nail or just the tips, or the base with white tips or ontop of a color, whatever you like. Can you get acrylic nails without filing down the natural nail?

I had acrylic nails once before and when i removed them my nails were paper thin. can you still apply salon done acrylic nails without the end result of paper thin natural nails? Can you get acrylic nails without filing down the natural nail?
    no.

you don't have to have them very filed but they do have to be.Can you get acrylic nails without filing down the natural nail?
No, unless your nails are very short and thin they need to be filed. But nails need to be filed down occasionally because it makes then grow back and they look healthier than before.

Is there any way to fix the gap between my acrylic nails and my cuticles?

i have a dance tonight and i had to clip down my acrylic nails a bit so they fit. now there is an ugly gap between the bottom of them and my cuticles. any way to cover that up?Is there any way to fix the gap between my acrylic nails and my cuticles?
You can try buffing the edge of the acrylic down slightly, and then using a pearly nail polish over everything. A shiny nail polish will make the line more visible, but a pearly polish will disguise it slightly so that from a distance, it will be less noticeable as the light is reflected a bit.Is there any way to fix the gap between my acrylic nails and my cuticles?
you can get a balance for about 15-20 bucks at a salon... but if u want to do it yourself you can go to sallys and buy the acrylic mix but i dont recomend it... it's much harder than it looks
try putting coats of clear nailpolish in the gap. see if it fills. or you can go to the salon and ask them to fill it for you
you have to go to the salon and get a fill, or you could get nail polish and try to paint over the whole thing
well if its not that important then y r u asking how 2 fix em??

no one will even b paying attention 2 your nails.....
umm idk i dont use them
there is not much you can do. but you can go to a nail salon and tell them.. i want fill ins!
sally hansen makes some stuff for it that you can buy at walmart

I just started doing my own acrylic nails and when im done i try to put clear nail polish over them to make?

them glossy but the acrylic seems to obsorb the nail paint? what should i do?I just started doing my own acrylic nails and when im done i try to put clear nail polish over them to make?
let them dry. or put water on them, if they mess up make em again maybe you made them wrongI just started doing my own acrylic nails and when im done i try to put clear nail polish over them to make?
you need several coats, one coat alone is NOT enough, acrylic nails do somehow absorb the polish after you've filed them, but i'd just say put more coats
Use a good quality base coat before applying the polish.

soak your fingertips in nail polish remover. It softens the acrylic nail so you can pull it off easier. Careful though!Whats the easiest way to take acrylic nails?
soak em in acetone. if you dont have any nail polish remover with acetone, take one of the tips and slide it under the edge of the part that is left to help pry it off... good luck. ouch. the easiest way is to go the nail salon %26amp; have them take them off!

i dont want to have to go to the salon and pay money to get them removed..but i dont want to break them off and ruin my nails. Best solution please.Whats the best way to get acrylic nails off?
Soak them in acetone nail polish remover.Whats the best way to get acrylic nails off?
The best way to remove artificial nails is to soak them off in acetone. You can find this at your local Walmart in the nail polish section.

Here's what you'll want to do:

Get a glass bowl and fill it up enough that when you put your fingertips in the bowl it covers to just above your nails. You'll then want to have someone cover the bowl with a towel as acetone is a highly volatile substance and will evaporate quickly. You'll need to soak for 30-40 minutes WITHOUT taking your hands out of the bowl to ';check'; on them. The more times you pull your hands out the longer it will take. Once they have been soaking for at least 30 minutes, while STILL SUBMERGED you'll want to use an orangewood stick to gently push the acrylic down and away from your nails. It helps if you have a buddy that can assist with this. Once you have pushed all the acrylic off, there may be some residual acrylic left on the nails. This can be buffed away with a high grit file, but be careful not to over buff the natural nail.

One tip that can speed up the process:

Acetone will work faster if it is warm, but it is also highly flammable. To heat the acetone, fill a slightly larger bowl than the one you intend to use with hot water, then put your finger bowl in the larger bowl. It will raise the temperature of the acetone enough to speed up the process, but not enough to ignite it.

Hope that helps, I just recently graduated as a nail technician, and I've found that this method works the best. Otherwise, look into a local beauty school, as they have reduced costs for simple services such as this.

    Just a note:

It is a common misconception that having artificial nails ';damages'; your nails. If applied properly, there should be no damage done to the natural nail by any enhancement service. To keep nails healthy and growing, it is a good idea to massage what it commonly referred to as the ';cuticle'; each day while you're in the shower. The skin is warm and moist, therefore the ';cuticle'; can easily be pushed back and massaged. Daily application of a cuticle oil will also help.
soak them off with polish remover.

    or

Cut them really short until they grow out.

Your nail are already damaged and it will take a few months to grow them out.

Massage your nails daily with cuticle oils or vit e

How do I take off my acrylic nails?

I've had them on for about 6 weeks now, i know i soak them but in what and for how long?

thanksHow do I take off my acrylic nails?
I would recommend going to a professional nail technician who will soak your acrylics off.

If that is not an option then you want to use pure manicurist acetone. Pour enough in a glass bowl so that fingertips are covered.(You can place this bowl in another bowl of warm water to warm the acetone. Please do not put acetone in the microwave! It is extremely flammable.)

Soak nails for at least 30 minutes. It depends on the thickness of the acrylic. When they soften you can use a paper towel to wipe of the softened acrylic. Do this until there is no acrylic left.

Wash hands to remove acetone, lightly buff your nails and follow with a moisturizing treatment ( a rich hand cream and cuticle oil).

You can also put a few drops of cuticle oil into the acetone as you are soaking to help with dryness. How do I take off my acrylic nails?
acetone, soak your finger tips in there for a while.
From personal experience......cut them short and let them grow out. Your nails underneath will be very sensitive and I counld'nt stand touching anything. You can lightly buff them as they grow out. Apply a strenghtner as need to help the nails.
soak them in acetone nail varnish remover about 20 minutes and put a little towel over the bowl of acetone the heat soaks themoff faster
pure accetone.. warm... for about 10 mins then kinda rub them off,
You soak them in acetone nail varnish remover. For as long as required but approximately 10-15 mins. But that depends on the glue/nail, more or less may be necessary. They will go gooey and you can take them off!
soak em in acetone nail remover until they start to soften

or soak them in false nail remover

or get them done by a proffesional

but some sort of remover is prob cheaper and easier
get the dog to bite them off
Soak them in vinegar for about 20 minutes... maybe 30 minutes.
You should go back to the nail shop and let them soak your nails and take them off. It only cost $10.00 to do so, and you get a better job of getting the nails taken off. I believe they us Acetone to take the nails off.
I recommend going to a proffessional nail salon. They will soak them off in a solution of Acetone.

Please don't peel off yourself. You will tear your nail bed making it weak and susceptible to infection.
Soak them in pure acetone. Nail polish remover with acetone will take forever to soften them enough to remove. DO NOT pry them off as this will likely damage your nail plate

Try using acetone for about 20 minutes. Just put it in a bowl large enough for your hands, pour the acetone in the bowl and cover your hands with a wash cloth!!! Pull them off your nails gentle, because your nails will be sensitive. I would put Sally Hansen's hard as nails on them to get them stronger!!

    Good Luck!!
acetone, soak your finger tips in there for a while.
acetone keep them saoking untill they come off

How can you take off Acrylic nails yourself and not damage your real nails? Thanks!?

I would hope if there is a method of doing so, that it is not painful. How can you take off Acrylic nails yourself and not damage your real nails? Thanks!?
If you soak it in acetone fingernail polish that will take them right off and your ';real'; nails will be just fine. How can you take off Acrylic nails yourself and not damage your real nails? Thanks!?
You can remove acrylic nails two different ways. You can purchase a professional acrylic nail removal kit at your local drug store, or you can invest a dollar or two in a large bottle of nail polish remover. Make sure you buy a kind that has acetone in it, not one of the gentler nail polish removers on the market these days.

Lay out several pages of newspaper on your kitchen table to prevent spills. Keep several paper towels close by as well to wipe off nail polish, dry your hands off and put the acrylic nails on as they come off.

Clip your nails as short as possible to make the process easier. Next apply some petroleum jelly to your fingers (except the nails) to prevent your skin from drying out completely during the soaking.

Pour the entire bottle of nail polish remover in a bowl. Warm it up in the microwave to make the process faster and easier. Soak your fingernails for about 15 to 20 minutes. The acrylic nails should start to come apart from your natural nail at this point. Gently peel them back a little and soak longer if they still seem pretty attached. Repeat this process until you can easily peel the entire acrylic nail off. Don't force it, or you risk ripping your own nail out of the nail bed, which is very painful.

Wash your hands several times when you're done to get all the acetone off. Use a good hand moisturizer. The acetone dries your skin out. Your nails will look very rough from the acrylic coming off. Use a nail buffer to smooth them out. They'll start looking better after a few days.
Go to Wal-Mart and get a bottle of Pure Acetone ($1.88). Pour in a bowl (preferably glass) and just let the acrylic melt off.
in most cases, whatever the product, those always ruin your nails. good luck.
soaking it in acetone is the only way to remove it. to not soak it for too long, take a black emery board (the coasrsest one) and file it down as best as possible. once you have it super thin but have not hit your own nails, soak it in acetone. once you have removed it, use witch craft nail hardener. nailtec is great but really expensive and witch craft works just as well.
Soak your nails in acetone finger nail polish remover, after 10 minutes or so your nails will become softer and will basically fall right off, completely painless! good luck:)
Acetoner. However, while they put on the acrylic nails and file your real nails down, that's what really causes the damage. So acetoner wont damage them anymore than they already are. It may dry out your skin a little though. Just moisturize and wear some nail polish because they will be sensitive to hots and colds. Your nails will grow back healthy over time.
acetone fingernail polish remover soak them in that

What products to use for Acrylic Nails?

I would like to know what are the products called to make acrylic nails, and which one goes first? What products to use for Acrylic Nails?
The products used for acrylic nail application are technically called dehydrator, primer, monomer, and polymers. That is the primary list of components which are used. The nail dehydrator goes on first, after you have properly prepped them, but you know about that already, right?

Itts only my opinion, but you really should not be doing nails unless you have attended a formal nail training program at an accreditated institution, and you know what you are doing. Its not as easy as it looks, and there are many things that can go wrong, and you could end up with an infection, contact dermatitis, and more.

I'm sure that others will disagree with me, and thats OK. I know you can buy these kits at a drug store, but the components are not very good in terms of quality.

But hey, they're your nails, do what you want with them. But, I wouldn't advise you to do them yourself, and especially not on someone else. Just my professional opinion. Take it for what its worth. What products to use for Acrylic Nails?

I used to wear them all the time, but eventually they ruined my nails. But if you're looking for pretty hands for a big event then they're definitely worth the splurge.

How to non-painfully take acrylic nails off?

Okay, so I have acrylic names, and I don't want them. If I soak them in acetone and take them off, will it hurt? How to non-painfully take acrylic nails off?
Ive done it before, it doesnt hurt. The thing is the acetone doesnt get all of it off, so sometimes you do have to do a bit of pulling and filing to get the remainder off. It also takes forever, but is so most painless way of doing it. If you go to a nail place they get this plastic thing and *flick* *flick* and they're gone. Hurts like hell though. How to non-painfully take acrylic nails off?
Dissolve them in acetone. it will not hurt unless you have a cut, then it burns a bit. it will not harm your real nails, just the fake ones.
    It shouldnt.

What is the best way to take off acrylic nails with minimal damage?

The best way is to soak them in pure acetone.

Pour some into a glass bowl and soak for about 20 minutes. Use an orangewood stick to scrape off the loosened product. Soak and scrape until it's all off.

You will have to do one hand at a time. Keep the nails in the acetone when scraping as it will start to harden if you remove them.

If your acrylics have a gel overlay then you will have to file the nail to break the gel seal. If you don't, no amount of soaking will penetrate the gel.

You can use a very fine buffer after all the product is off to smooth out your nails.

    Interesting answers you are getting...

If these are acrylic from a legitimate salon you can do it yourself. Which is what you are asking to do...not to go to a salon and spend more money right? If they are from a sweat shop salon..sometimes they use a type of acrylic that is illegal and can only be filed off with drill files. No amount of soaking will get you there. That is why they are so excruciating when you break one as opposed to the legal kind which have some flex.

So assuming you have regular acrylic nails you..

*Buy (as one person said) PURE acetone

*Put it in two glass bowls (one for each hand) and let it soak for a half hour...watch t.v. or something.

*Then take an orange wood stick (any beauty supply) an push off all of the gunk.

...Now, you can't get it all in one swoop so you will have to repeat the soaking and scraping again.

*After you soak and scrape a few times pieces of it will start to break off. Take some nippers or finger nail clippers and clip it as close to your natural nail as possible.

*When you have MOST of it off, take a coarse file and gently file off the rest.

*Follow with a fine file and then buff.

*Do not expect your nails to be in great shape, BUT this is WAY WAY better for them than pulling them off or filing them off. Acetone is cheap, files are cheap and you will still be way ahead $$ wise if you do it yourself.

It is messy though and acetone is flammable (no candles) and takes the color out of things, so be careful!

Good luckWhat is the easiest way to soak off acrylic nails?

Cut them down as low as you can get them and soak in oure acetone. Try to pull them up.
Soaking is messy. The fastest way to take them off is just to do it the way the nail places do...clip them and lift them off. Much faster as long as you do it carefully.

Can I use cuticle oil when I have acrylic nails?

To the other person, whaaat? The last thing you wanna be dipping your acrylic nails are in lemon juice! Citric juices will start melting the acrylic little by little.

Feel free to apply cuticle oil. There shouldn't be any problem. I don't work with acrylic so I can't be 100% sure, but I work with gels and I always tell my clients to use the oil daily because it'll keep their cuticles and nails moisturized and flexible which will help the gel stay adhered to their nail. Can I use cuticle oil when I have acrylic nails?
Use Virgin Olive Oil-To help build strong fingernails and soften cuticles, soak your nails each night in a mixture of 3 parts lukewarm olive oil to 1 part freshly-squeezed lemon juice. Put on cloth gloves and let the oil penetrate overnight. Your nails will gradually become more resistant to breaking and chipping.

go to a nail salon and they can take them off for you or soak them in nail polish. takes a long time though.
soak it in nail polish remover
you'll have to soak your fingernails in acetone polish remover. they will get slimy, so wipe them off with a paper towel to remove the part that has melted then soak them some more. keep doing this until you can either pop them off or they have melted.
Soak them in nail polish remover. They will eventualy come off.
The best way to do this is to buy acetone. The nail salon uses this to take them off...Its stronger than nail polish remover, but its still not easy. Soak your nails for a long time...Its going to hurt, and your nails wont look pretty afterwards! Good Luck...
