How much to acrylic nails cost?

In the Obama infomercial - a woman with very nice acrylic nails asking about the price of milk. Wondering how much a full set of acrylic nails cost now a days? Are they less than the cost of a gallon of milk? I don't get my nails done, so I don't know how much they cost. How much to acrylic nails cost?
Amanda,

Palin's also not asking for help from the government. She's taking care of herself. Spend your hard-earned money on whatever you like (even 150,000 on clothes!), but don't come asking for money or subsidies to buy your milk.

As for the question, the price of acrylics will vary from market to market, but I believe you'll find that milk is typically no more than $6/gallon even in expensive markets. That's a lot less than those acrylics. How much to acrylic nails cost?
It depends on where you go, the type she appeared to have would probably have cost her around $30-$35 to initially put on and about $15-$20 every two weeks. It's a little over $500 a year, and if you're suggesting that just because money is tight, she shouldn't have a little bit of luxury, I think that's pretty narrow minded of you. Besides, you don't know what kind of work she does, maybe she needs to present herself in a certain way. Or, alternatively, she may have a friend who does nails so she gets them cheap or free. Or, she may have just done them for the tv special.
Where I am from they cost around $35 depending on the type... and then there are people like me whose nails grow fast and have to have them filled every few days which can cost aroun $15... (but I have seen the prices vary depending on where I am)...

And to those talking about Palin and her wardrobe.... Palin did not go to Saks and Neimann herself... an Aide went out and bought the clothes FOR Palin... Palin returned about 1/3rd of them because they either didn't fit or weren't her style... which suggests that she didn't walk into the store, try them on and then paid for them... :/

Shoot, even though right now my husband and I are trying to get rid of our debt (pretty aggressively at the moment) I can still afford fake nails (or whatever I want) just by shopping frugally at the grocery store.... I save $30+ dollars each week by shopping on Saturday and with coupons... and we can still have decent food that isn't processed and from a can...

ADD: Kaston... I don't mean to sound disrespectful... but I would hate to live where you live... the most I have ever paid for milk is 3.75ish.... I can normally buy 2 gallons for $6.
In KC it costs $25-35 dollars to get them on and about $15-20 every week and a half to two weeks to keep them up.

The point is Amanda....Palin doesn't ask about the price of milk. Plus SHE didn't pay for the clothes anyway.

Amanda.... You are missing the entire point. Don't go on TV talking like you can't afford milk while you wear Armani. But whatever.
Why do people always bring up how much Palin spent on clothes...it always seems like they turn the cheek when their own party is doing it...ever wonder why Michelle Obama spent 22k on one suit for one night and then order lobster and caviar for a night snack...but it seems the media forgot all the facts.

and for the lady talking about milk...that infomercial was so dumb

Oh and McCain earned all his cars and houses to spend money on that he didn't get a hand out. Plus didn't anyone pay attention to how much Obama paid for his dumb infomercial and all the other ads...crazy if you ask me
full set runs about $30 and a fill in every two weeks runs about $25 with tip where I live...I get my nails done bi-weekly and thanks to sound econmic planning on the part of me and my husband I don't have to worry how much milk costs. If I did I certainly wouldn't be wastefully spending money on fake nails...oh and how about the family with one parent working every other week and going OUT TO EAT?!
I work in a hospital, you should see how many welfare people come in with designer nails, and designer clothes on. We're the suckers who have to work, don't have time to sit for an hour to put those blasted things on, AND we don't moan and groan and gnash our teeth over how high our property taxes are. We already know whats going on. We are not fooled by the wolf in sheep's clothing.
I use to be a cosmetologist and the cheapest I've seen them is $20 for a full set. You make a good point, though. It's sad how many times I've seen women complaining about how they can't feed their children, yet they have enough money to get their nails and hair done. It's sick.
I have no idea, either.

They were probably done for the show.

Of course that could be a perk for her working in a nail salon, too.
A bunch more than a gallon of milk. Guess she had to look good for the ad and the kids could eat the corn flakes dry.
Milk, Gas, and Bottled Water are all cheaper than a set of nails. I pay for a set every two weeks for my wife.
The guy on Rush was right, in my experience a cheap place will be AT LEAST $20, add in $5/nail for designs.
$45 in my area.
it really depends on where you get them done
I'd guess more and then there's the tip
$30 -$100

the high end gets you a foot massage..with hot stones..

i have been known to pamper my wife
maybe she got them done because she needed to look nice on TV. no worse the Palin having an unneccessary wadrobe costing 150,000, right?

to the girl below me: you are right, Palin doesnt have to ask about the high price of milk, but she is just one of the regular average people right? didnt think so.
Ohh geeze are you for real?

Some people can do them their self for pretty cheap.

For all you know she does this for a living.

Umm I had them done once and they cost about $50 bucks.

They last a long time and if you know what you are doing you can fill them yourself and they can last like 4 months.

Seriously though...this is your biggest worry?
I was wondering how you thought up this yourself, and the first poster answered that well. You didn't Rush did. It makes sense to me now.

How much does oxycontin cost? Did Cynthia promise him some from her charity?
Fake nails are cheap like $2 or $3. You can get manicures for like $20 and up.
Remind us on how much Palin spent on clothes and how does McCain put gas in his 7 cars and put furniture in his 13 houses?!
Ask Sarah Barracuda. maybe a 150k?
