How do you remove acrylic nails without hurting yourself?

I don't want to pay to have them taken off if I can do it myself.

Any suggestions?

They look like crap and a fill-in isn't going to help..

the tips are just really old.. I have had them for about a month.. I think it's time for a whole new set.. but I don't want to get them yet. I just want to take them off and let my real nails breathe..

You can soak them like everyone else says but me, I don't have the patience for that. At my nail salon, what they do, if they are lifting from the nail, they use a metrocard (which you probably don't have if your not in the new york city area) and they stick it under the lifted part and the lift slightly and it comes right off. The metro card is the same thickness as a business card so you can use and ID or something you have thats laminated. Soaking takes too much time especially if the acrylic is thick. Good luck. How do you remove acrylic nails without hurting yourself?
Soak them in acetone based nail polish remover for like... forever. Just kidding, but you will need to soak them quite a bit. Use an orange stick (its the stick with one pointy end and one angled end) and begin lifting them and continue soaking and lifting until they come off. That way you don't damage your own nails.
Buy a nail polish remover that contains acetone, pour it in a bowl, and soak your nails. This will take 30min-2hours, but it will soften them and you can wipe them or peel them off when they are soft. Don't try to rip them off because they will damage your nails. Just let them soak and watch a movie.
usually nothing will allow them to come of with no pain at all unless you go and have them taken of.. certainly DO NOT just rip them off, because it can and will pull of your real nail with it.. not good.

try soaking them in hot water with soap to soften the glue.

then carefully start to take them off starting with the part closest to your finger.. tht way you wont rip your nail off.

good luck.. but if they arent budging, then just go back and have them take them off for you.
Soak your hands in warm water with dish liquid in it (like you are doing dishes). I'd soak for about 30 minutes. Then they will probably come off. If they don't, take an orange stick, some cotton (or cotton swabs) and use acetone fingernail polish remover on them. It should help you get them off. Just put a little acetone on the orange stick and start working your way under them slowly, or use the cotton to immerse the tips until they are loose. Good luck! :)
100% acetone for acrylic nails...put it in a bowl and soak nails in for like 15 or 20 minutes...it melts them off! kinda cool
The best way to do that with minimal to no pain is to soak your tips hot water (as hot as you can stand) with some dish soap, then when they are soft submerse them into some acetone/nail polish remover. Now this may take a time or two but it will reduce significantly the bond of the acrylics and will get rid of any glue on your nails. It's not a guarantee but when I'm in a bind it works great for me.
soak them in nail polish remover.
Go buy some plain Acetone and soak your nails in it for like an hour. The acrylic will become gummy, just kind of push it off. It is not a fast process, do it while watching a movie or something.

The taking off of the nails is not what where the damage is being done. Before the acrylic was put on your nails are ';buffed'; or drilled, this damaged your nails. By all mean, let your nails breath! Trim or file your natural nails as they grow because all that damaged nail is making it's way to the ';tips'; before long you will have your natural, heathy nails back!
soke them in hot water for like an hour and gently pull off
try running them under hot water for a while before trying to take them off.
Hey ,

I have the best advice (i hope).

1st get two small bowls

2nd place the bowls inside ziplock bags

3rd pour PURE acetone into the bowls (Onyx brand works best)

4th let them soak for about 10-20min intervals

5th make sure that you get a white block nail filer and after 20 min of soaking scrub the acrylic once in a while you wil the acrylic peel off right away. Make sure you moisturize your hands right after-from all the acetone okay! Hope this helps
Soak them in acetone. It disolves the nails. And please dont just rip it off lol. It'll remove the first layer of your nail and damages it. Just ask your local nail salon for some acetone.
nail polish remover with acetone, that what they use at the nail place. It will dry out your hands though.

or

just go to the nail place and ask then to remove them after they take em off they can make em look pretty without adding new ones
hot water always makes it easy for me to pop off acrylic nails, but if that doesnt work, acetone nail polish remover will do the trick. oh and if you do soak in acetone, coat your skin around your fingers in vaseline as your fingers will get VERY dry!!
soak them in acetone nail polish remover... but be patient-- it takes forever!
Soak your nails in pure acetone- it should only cost about $1- Soak in a bowl for about 15 minutes and ultimately your tips will melt away.
Buy a bottle of pure acetone remover. Let the nails soak. Be patient and don't rip them off because you will seriously damage your real nails. File them down and let them come off on their own. Just keep soaking.
