I'm afraid everyone will be critical. How can you make home-applied acrylic nails look professional?
i think you just really have to have a good eye for making your nails look natural. take your time, read the instructions. i think filing the nails properly are key and eliminating the appearance of ridges after applying the nail. i used to apply fake nails myself and i spent a long time making sure each nail looked perfect. actually, i preferred just using the tips rather than applying the full nail because the full nail makes your entire nailbed look unnaturally thick. then it just looks too obvious.
you also have to be careful about painting your nails and hat color you choose. make sure to put vaseline around the outside of your nailbed at the bottom so that when you paint them, if nail polish runs beyond your nail, you can easily wipe it up. the vaseline allows the polish that hits it to not dry, so clean up with a q-tip is easy.

I agree that you could just go and have them done. Where i live a full set costs like $15-$20 and they come out looking really nice too. and the fills are very cheap like $12.
they tend to look really fake, and fall off
getting it done is a lot better, can be 20-40 dollars at salons
gel nails are better, gel overlays are really nice
then just get them done proffesionally...it's only $20
