Before I get acrylic nails, I want to know how to take them off?

I want my nails done for graduation, but in the case that I start getting annoyed by them, or one falls off, I want to know how to take them all off painlessly. My younger sister has gotten them a couple of times and usually ends up ripping them off, which of course, rips off some of her real nails too. She's tried soaking them in alcohol but it didn't work. Before I get acrylic nails, I want to know how to take them off?
Anotherr good way is to take some acetone, soak a cotton pad and then put it on top of the nail ONLY. Then wrap all that in foil and leave on for 30 minutes or so. They will basically drop off

edit: you should go to a good nail tech to get them put on because they can also do repairs and why invest in nails if you arent going to keep them on? plus they loook sooo pretty! Before I get acrylic nails, I want to know how to take them off?
there is no completely painless way to take off acrylic nails. they can remove them at a salon and it only cost like 10 dollars and is uncomfortable for a few minutes but doesnt really hurt all that bad. you can also crack them off with nail clippers and that hurts like hell
Soak them in pure acetone for at least 30 minutes. Then scrape off the softened acrylic with an orange stick. It will work just fine. And yes, it is painless. Don't listen to the answer that said there is no painless way. That is BS. Acetone is the only way to remove them.

Should I get acrylic nails or just a manicure?

My homecoming is next saturday (10/11) and I was wondering -- should I get acrylic nails (french manicured ones) or just a manicure. If you say ';just a manicure'; what color should I get my nails painted? My dress is cheetah print.Should I get acrylic nails or just a manicure?
manicure!!!!!and color idk (mabey color of dress)Should I get acrylic nails or just a manicure?
definately go for the add-on nails, but skip the acrylic and go for the gel or silk wrap or pink and whites, it's less stress on your nails and easier to get off when your done. A little more expensive but definately worth it. If you definately want you french to stay on make sure you ask for white tips instead of clear, that way there's no painting involved and you know the white won't go away.
acrylic nails are really nice, but they can be really pricey, so what i would suggest is going to your local wal-mart and getting a set of the plastic ones. there just as pretty and less then ten dollars! hope this helps!

help me maybe?

Acrylic nails are beautiful, so I would suggest those. However, it does a lot of damage to your nails if you leave them on for lengthy periods of time, like several weeks, so if you get them, make sure not to leave them on for too long. Have fun at homecoming!

eat jello
sally hansons hard as nails one coat nail varnish
use sally hansen nail polish. I think its called ';Strength and Repair';. Anyway, the polish looks purple in the bottle, but goes on clear, and makes them look nice. You can find it at CVS and Walgreens, etc....
If you are in the UK try;

Maximum Growth

by Sally Hansen

It comes like a pen, with a brush top, you screw the pen and it releases a drop of this ointment each time. You brush it on the cuticles and the nails. It contains a high dose of nutrients for the nails. IMO, it truely is miracolous. For years my nails never grew...and a friend recommended it, after 3 weeks I had long strong nails.

What i like about it is that it dries up, and it looks like you have nothing on your nails at all.......no shine! In fact to get proper use from this product , your nails need to be clean of varnish so as they can absorb it.

Mind you I am in the UK.....I just bought it in a local Pharmacy. I think it's a French Product though.

Failing that, you should just rub in any vegetable oil, apparently!
drink milk-

take vitamins
If you just pulled them off by yourself, go to Long's and get a buffer and buff your nails so they don't look so bad, then get some nail hardener, it will help your nails be stronger and not as brittle.
Use mystic clear nail polish twice a day. But you just have to wait till they grow out.
I'm Guessing Putting Clear Nail Polish And Don't Put Acrylic Nails For A Very Long While.
Get some clear nail polish nails strengthener. Apply it a few times a day. It is also called nail hardener.
I'm not sure if this will strengthen your nails, but it will make them healthier. Find some vitamin E oil and massage it into each and every one of your finger nails.
NO, the nails have to grow all the way out, cut them down as low as you can. This could take months. I had them for 4 years and it took 6 months before my real nails would stay grown and not break easily. The problem is the fake ones damage the matrix and it takes time to repair even if you put creams and stuff on them.
theres this special nail polish

if you go to any drug store or nail salon theyll show it to you
OPI Nail Envy - original.

The BEST stuff! I wouldn't be without it. It goes on %26amp; comes off just like regular nail polish.

It can't fix the nails you've damaged with the acrylic but it can add strength and support to them so they're not so weak. Keep them trimmed very short until the good nail part starts to grow out. I like it so much I just kept using it. Haven't needed acrylics for years now because of OPI.
witchcraft nail hardener is good
You may need to cut them down and allow them to grow back stronger. Acrylics are really bad for your nails (but look really nice, I know). I would suggest cutting them down and applying a harder like ';hard as nails'; by sally hansen or go to the local beauty supply store and ask what the best nail hardner is. Overall, just try not to pick at them or they will peel and give it time. They will toughen back up on their own. Good Luck
pinch them on raw garlic cloves... u can do it everyday till u see a difference. im not sure what, but there's something in raw garlic that makes the nails stronger. just be patient cuz results usually shows after a few months.
Thats happened to me before and i used OPI Nail Treatments Nail Envy and it worked really well.

Why do my acrylic nails start lifting off after a couple of days?

You aren't prepping your nails good enough prior to application. Follow the instructions and spend more time on the pre-application directions. Clean and gently file your nail bed so it will have a rough base to adhere to before you glue.

Use the primer available where you buy the nail supplies. It is a good prepping agent.

If you are going to a salon, change manicurists because the manicurist isn't doing a good job. The nails should last at least 2 weeks. Why do my acrylic nails start lifting off after a couple of days?
probably bcause u didnt use good enough glue, or u didnt use enough of itWhy do my acrylic nails start lifting off after a couple of days?
Most nail places set you up on this! They don't place them file your natural nail down enough so that the acrylic starts lifting after only a couple of days, this keeps them in business. If you're confident that your manicurist is doing the best job they can do it may be that you are being too hard on your nails, try to not lift heavy things that may ruin your nails.
You got a bad job! They shouldn't be doing that after a couple of days! Don't go to that place anymore...and get these off your nails asap...you could get a fungus from moisture getting under your nails.
cause they arent under your cuticle any more so there is nothing to hold them down i think? use a little more glue next time!!!

I got them done about 3 weeks ago and got a new job and now dont want to get them filled because they are in the way...Is there a way to remove them at home without going to the salon and without destroying my real nails?I always pull off layers of my real nail if i try to remove them myself...Anyone know a way? Thanks. Is there a way i can remove my acrylic nails at home?
it hasnt been to long so your nails may be WEAKER but they are not ruined like someone else said.

first clip all your fake nails short so they are about the same length as your natural nails.

buy some acetone, at cvs or any drugstore, and put it in a GLASS bowl (anything like plastic will melt). then put some warm water in a big bowl and put the glass bowl with the acetone inside of it so it will get warmed. then soak your nails for a while!

then just file the tops and it will start to come off. it is time consuming but it is better then ripping them off!

=) good luckIs there a way i can remove my acrylic nails at home?
Your nails are already ruined. They are ground down to almost nothing in order to apply the acrylic nails. When I had to remove mine for work, I soaked them in nail polish remover. This loosens them nicely and you can start removing them. Once they are all off, you will have some pretty awful looking nails, but put some nail strengthener on them to protect them as they grow out. Keep them filed down until the nails have grown out. This may take a couple of months or so, but your nails will be back and healthy pretty soon.
buy acetone from any store(walmart like 2.00$$) pour in a glass bowl %26amp;%26amp; soak them off. it can take anywhere from 30 min to an hour...dont listen to the other person ur nails arent ruined i do it all the time. just file then paint them and keep it movin:)
yes buy pure acetone and dip your nails in it. it will def. remove them without getting your nails all ugly

How long can you leave acrylic nails on, before you have to take them off?

I had a full set of acrylic nails done the end of January, I have had them filled twice, it is now time to have them filled again. Should i have them removed and a new set put on, or is it still ok to fill? How long can you leave acrylic nails on, before you have to take them off?
I usually get mine filled 5 or 6 times before taking them off or before they go yellow. They go yellow quicker if you smoke. I don't smoke so they take long before they go yellow. O it's sometimes good to avoid working with curry etc. they make them change color to, it goes off usually but not always. Good luck. But you can ask your nail technician for her opinion. How long can you leave acrylic nails on, before you have to take them off?
There's nothing really bad with continuing to get fills. It's just that when the acrylic begins to yellow, they look really ugly.
its defiantly time to take them off you should only get a refill like once

How to make at home acrylic nails look glossy?

i can put the acrylic stuff on fine but it doesn't come out glossy looking or feeling! and i know your supposed to put a top coat on but its not helping very much!

is it my top coat?? its not the sally hanson oneHow to make at home acrylic nails look glossy?
Are you buffing your nails to smooth them with a fine buffer block? Are you using a nail oil too? If you are then you need a top coat if you are not using a polish colour. How to make at home acrylic nails look glossy?
yeh...you're supposed to put clear nail polish on top...but at home nails are sh*t, sorry. you should just get them done professionally
It's the top coat that makes it look glossy. Try getting another brand.

What to do when my acrylic nails start growing out?

I recently got acrylic nails for a wedding and now have had them for about a month now. They have started to grow out and I don't like the way they look. Since this is my first time getting them done, I have no idea what to do with them. I really don't want to go to a salon to fill them in.

I was thinking about cutting the nail shorter and filing it down and just apply nail polish over it to hide the gap. I really have no idea what to do. It's either that or just removing them, but I'm scared about how ugly or weak my nails are going to be if I remove it.

Any suggestions?????? thanks a bunch =)What to do when my acrylic nails start growing out?
You are going to have to remove them at some point and it woul dbe better to do it now, soak them in an acetone solution and then ease them off, or you could just get a thick clear nail polish and do a ';poly filler'; on them, but it really is best to maintain them at the salon or take them off!!What to do when my acrylic nails start growing out?
buy some acetone fingernail polish remover and soak them off, this will take about 1-2 hrs.
Remove them then do some major manicure work.
you need to take a trip to the nail technican and have your nils filled or they will catch fungus
if you went to a discount salon to get them done and paid like 25 dollars, yea, your nails are prolly damaged. DONT RIP THEM OFF, cuz that will make the damage worse. to take them off, soak them in acetone nail polish remover(its not bad for you, thats a myth) for a good 40 min. after you take them out of the liquid, use an orangewood stick, or your keeys or something and slide them off. if they are not sliding off, soak them for another 20 minutes or so. after they are off, buff them ver very lightly to get the residue off, then use a ridgefiller, a nail hardener, polish, and a top coat... keep doing this every week, and add another top coat every 3 days. then your nail will grow out and be healthy again, plus you learned a valuable lesson: dont go to a discount salon, and dont get falsies unless you want them for a while. next time you go to an event, ask for party nails.. they glue on the tips, and it doesnt damage your nails
You can either get a fill or take them off. You can also go to a nail place and they can take them off for you. Since you've only had them on for a month, your nails shouldn't be to weak. If you decide to take them off, go buy pure acitone or nail polish removal w/ in it in. You're going to have to soak them for about an hour and keep getting the acrylic off. You could try filing them down but that may take some time since I don't know how thick the acrylic is. I hope this helps.

    :)
u should go to the same place u got ur nails done and get them filled or ask them to take them off
Go to the salon and get a fill. while you are there tell them you want a cut down, and if you want designs or anything let them know and they will give you whatever you want.

It may be cheaper to do it yourself (it costs about 10-13 dollars to get a fill where i live) but the results are so much better when you go to a salon that its worth the 13 bucks not to waste your time.
soak them off with nail polish remover beware it takes a long time

  • How do i make my acrylic nails go longer without having to be filled?

I get them filled every 2 weeks and it is expensive. Any tricks to make them last longer? ThanksHow do i make my acrylic nails go longer without having to be filled?
No, you really should get them filled on a regular basis. If they are lifting at all prior to getting them filled, you should have them taken care of at that time, and not wait because you will increase your chances of developing a bacterial infection (the 'greenies').How do i make my acrylic nails go longer without having to be filled?
My clients go three weeks between their fills. Some even four weeks. If the fill is only lasting you two weeks then try going to a different nail tech.

Make sure you are going to a reputable salon and not a budget nail salon.

A good place to find a good nail tech is :http://www.creativenaildesign.com/Locate鈥?/a>

Remember, you get what you pay for. If you want good nails that last then you will pay more. In the long run it's worth it because the damage to your natural nail is minimal.
listen to rachel shes a pro, the only other thing i can think of is use gloves when washing dishes or doing heavy duty things w your hands that will make them go maybe one more wk.

Is it dangerous to get acrylic nails? What about pedicures?

I love to get acrylic nails and pedicures at the salon. But I have heard it can be harmful and dangerous. Is it true? Should I stop?Is it dangerous to get acrylic nails? What about pedicures?
Well I personally say no, simlpy because I get them done all the time. I live for my French Manicures. However, I do have this cousin who had an allergic reaction to the materials that are used and she developed a servere fungus on her FINGERNAILS (GROSS, Huh?). Well, anyways this happened to her like years ago, when I was about 13 and I am 22 now, and unfortunately she still has it. I don't know why she never took care of it? But I guess if you get them done, and nothing happens to you, then you will learn to live by them, just like a million other girls. Besides, they look gorgeous. Is it dangerous to get acrylic nails? What about pedicures?
I am a nail tech and if it is done wrong it can be very bad for you. NEVER LET ANYONE DRILL ON YOUR NATURAL NAIL!!!!! If you walk in a nail salon and everyone working there is wearing masks or it is a really strong smell turn around and walk out. They are using nail products that are dangerous.

it is possible to get infections if the instruments used are not cleaned and disinfected between customers; also, after you stop getting acrylic nails you can have permanent ridges in your nails if the nail bed was injured during the filing process
No i wont think so... the only bad thing would be the fumes.. but its not THAT bad... i watch my friends get them all the time.. there sooooooooo cute!
My wife has had them for decades. What's dangerous about it? And Pedicures? She gets them every two weeks and her feet and nails are beautiful.
They are not dangerous, but when you get the nails taken off, make sure you get the soaked off professionally, or it will tear your nails. Pedicures are cool, i get them every chance I have
The fumes can be dangerous if you are exposed to them EVERY day for several years. But the little bit you're exposed to when you get nails, naw.. nothing to worry about.

The only thing they do in the negative column is tear up your natural nails a bit. But, if you keep the acrylics up, there is nothing to worry about other than mold or fungus growing under them; however, that's in rare cases. Good nail ladies keep things sterile under your nails and completely seal them so stuff does not grow under them.
I've heard of some horror stories @ the nail salons but if you choose one to go to that sanitizes their tools and equipment you should';nt worry.while your there make sure they spray there tools and sanitize them before they use them on you..Also pay attention to the way the clean up after each customer.
i had acrylics last christmas and i got my nail caught on a loose string and it ripped my nail completely off. pedicures are great as long as you make sure that everything is sterile before they use it ESPECIALLY if they use the razor on the bottom of your foot.
People fail to realize that these products have to be approved by the FDA. So if they were dangerous and harmful, they wouldn't be allowed to put acrylic on people. Pedicures are relaxing, not dangerous at all.
I go to Florida every year on vacation,Me and my older sister always get acrylics done.Yeah they can damage your nails if you don't take care of them. When yo want to get them taken off,go to a nail bar and get them taken off professionally,After wards get nail strengthener because the acrylics softens up your nails

Is it legal to do acrylic nails without a license?

i know someone who knows how to do nails, but they dont want to do them for anyone, because they dont have a license to do them. is it legal for them to do nails for someone else, or will they get into trouble? Is it legal to do acrylic nails without a license?
They sell acrylic nail kits at walmart. I do them all the time for my friends and I haven't gone to cosmetology school yet. I'm pretty sure you can charge for doing them, although it is a different story if she works at a hair/nail place and you want her to do your nails at her store. The owner would probably frown upon that but if she's doing it on her own time from her own supplies then she can and most likely charge too if she wanted.

How do I treat my nails after I removed acrylic nails?

I just removed my acrylic nails and my nails are dry, ripped, and in layers...It ripped some of my natural nails off leaving lines of uneven nail surface... Please help!!!How do I treat my nails after I removed acrylic nails?
As a manicurist I would suggest you go to Sally's beauty supply and buying a white buffer and buff your nail beds, gently, until the ripped parts are nearly off.

Also at Sally's, buy some Hoofers cuticle cream. I think this is what its called - I swear by it. It is a little white plastic jar that has a little horse running on it. Rub it into your cuticles and nails every time you get out of the shower, at least once a day. It will make them thicker and conditioned. This is my FAVORITE natural nail product.

I would also buy some clear nail strengthening polish and using it on your nails until they grow out to make them stronger.

Keep using the hoofers stuff. Its great. How do I treat my nails after I removed acrylic nails?
Do not use a nail clipper. Only use a nail file to shape and shorten them. Protect your nails with thicker moisturizers to protect them from exposure to water which dries them out %26amp; makes them brittle.

Try Revlon's disposable files made for weak nails. File in one direction only. Start on one side and file towards the middle, then go to the other side and file towards the middle of your nail. Smooth the nail into a squoval that mirrors you cuticle or the shape of the white part of your nail bed. Avoid filing down the sides of the nail.

Finish the edges of the nail with a hindo stone, a smooth ceramic/stone nail file or the finest grit nail file you can find. You want to make the edges really smooth.

Also, avoid using metal nail files. I recommend using disposable nail files and changing them frequently. The fresher the grit, the less the drag which leads to tearing and peeling.

I also use a cuticle balm or nail oil to moisturize my nails and protect them from water since I wash my hands frequently.

    (ex. Solar Oil, OPI Avoplex)

Vit E oil, jojoba oil, Aquaphor Healing Ointment, Vaseline or plain Chapstick will work too.

Avoid products w/ formaldehyde or toluene, they are very hard on nails.

Some women swear by taking pre-natal vitamins.
That is the only part about acrylics that i don't like. You should go get a manicure. It will help out a lot. Then just let your nails breath for a while, let them grow out a little before you get acrylics again and get manicures frequently. They will go back to normal. I just recently took of my acrylics and my nails were so messed up. I have been getting manicures and nursing my nails back to health lol.
use nail polish remover to remove excess glue. then, you should soak your fingers in 1/2 c water mixed with 1/2 a lemon (juice and zest) . it will really moisten your nails and if done frequently, even them out.
same thing happened to me...i couldnt do anything about it really....they just grew out fine after some time...they were ok in like 2 months i guess...just let them grow and keep trimming them so that the new ones can grow

How can i convince my mom i can take care of acrylic nails and should get them?

I am 12 and a lot of people i know have acrylic nails. I really want them but where i live they are 30$ and my mom isn't so sure i can take care of them, but i know i can. How can i convince her to let me get them? How can i convince my mom i can take care of acrylic nails and should get them?
You really shouldn't get those. They ruin your nails. Your mom probably knows that and won't let you get them because of that.

Just go to Walmart and get those fake nails in the little packages. Those are FAR less damaging. I have used them before and they last about a week and only cost about $5.How can i convince my mom i can take care of acrylic nails and should get them?
Do you know what taking care of them means? It means more money. Acrylic nails are not cheap. I just paid $40 for some gel nails for my sister's wedding a little over 2 weeks ago and had one break off from getting stuck in the car door handle. They're are pain in the butt and get in the way of everything.

    Just respect your mom's decision.
Why would you want what everyone else has? FOLLOWER! Besides, au naturale is the way to go. I hate anyone who sprays tan, wears fake nails, flase eyelashes, fake hair, it's so ugly

I don't think they can be applied without roughing up the nails, and I don't think you'll find a place that will do that because it will be difficult to get the acrylic to stick. Acrylics are not a good idea for just a day or too. They do damage the nails, and while your nails will regrow normally, it will take a while for the healthy nail to fully replace the damaged nail - not worth it for just a day. Will acrylic nail extensions be easy to get off if they don't prime or rough up my nails?
I wouldn't go the acrylic route... it does wreck your nails.

Is it possible to get gel or acrylic nails without the tips?

i get mine gel coated and if you want they can paint them a random colour or have tips but if you want you can have no colour and they look really natural.

but if you get your hands wet a lot at your work then your nails get soft and the gel falls off easier.

but i have had mine gelled for about a year now (i need to get them filled in every couple of weeks or so - depends on how fast your nails grow) and they look great

i would definatly recommend gel coatings!

How do you get acrylic nails off?

What is the easiest, and most painless way to get acrylic nails off?

I was in a wedding last week, and they are driving me nuts!!How do you get acrylic nails off?
You can remove acrylic nails two different ways. You can purchase a professional acrylic nail removal kit at your local drug store, or you can invest a dollar or two in a large bottle of nail polish remover. Make sure you buy a kind that has acetone in it, not one of the gentler nail polish removers on the market these days.

Lay out several pages of newspaper on your kitchen table to prevent spills. Keep several paper towels close by as well to wipe off nail polish, dry your hands off and put the acrylic nails on as they come off.

Clip your nails as short as possible to make the process easier. Next apply some petroleum jelly to your fingers (except the nails) to prevent your skin from drying out completely during the soaking.

Pour the entire bottle of nail polish remover in a bowl. Warm it up in the microwave to make the process faster and easier. Soak your fingernails for about 15 to 20 minutes. The acrylic nails should start to come apart from your natural nail at this point. Gently peel them back a little and soak longer if they still seem pretty attached. Repeat this process until you can easily peel the entire acrylic nail off. Don鈥檛 force it, or you risk ripping your own nail out of the nail bed, which is very painful.

Wash your hands several times when you鈥檙e done to get all the acetone off. Use a good hand moisturizer. The acetone dries your skin out. Your nails will look very rough from the acrylic coming off. Use a nail buffer to smooth them out. They鈥檒l start looking better after a few days. How do you get acrylic nails off?
Go to a salon it costs about 10 bucks. Or at home soke then in acetone nail polish.. they melt away and you cant peal the parts that dont off. Its quite painless.
You have to soak them in acetone. You can go to a professional nail technician and they will remove them for you by doing the very same thing.
well if you dint want to go back to the salon and have them removed then i would suggest soaking your fingers in nail polish remover. if i am not mistaken they use a similar glue to super glue and any polish remover with acetone will dissolve the glue. it may take a while to soak them but it should work. you might want to call a salon and ask them how to remove them as well. good luck
you have to go find nail remover, it should be right next to the nail polish remover
nail remover and hot water soak your hands one at a time and just pop them off it helps to get a pointed metal nail file and go under the fake nail then pop it off
Soak your finger nails in acetone but be careful cause it stains your clothes! Hope it helps
soak your nails in pure acetone.....pick it up at walgreens.....it make them soft and you'll be able to get them off easier.
    soak in acetone

What is the maximum number of times a person can get a fill for acrylic nails?

This might be a silly question, but I'm really curious. I would like to know when a new full set is the only option after so many # of fills. Thanks in advance! What is the maximum number of times a person can get a fill for acrylic nails?
It usually depends on how well the old acrylics are holding up. If they're starting to get discolored or too thick, they will make you get new ones. What is the maximum number of times a person can get a fill for acrylic nails?

  • Can someone tell me how to get acrylic nails off?

I got my nails professionally done almost 3 weeks ago and have decided that I don't like them anymore and want them off. Any ways I can do it myself? Can someone tell me how to get acrylic nails off?
Yeah what angelhimm said....soak for a while...Can someone tell me how to get acrylic nails off?
While Acetone Polish Remover MIGHT take them off, it would take a really long time to do so. You'd need to use straight Acetone that can be bought in the Hardware section of Wal-Mart. You have to go through a process of soaking and scraping to get the acrylic off and it too will be a lengthy process. Be very careful with Acetone; it's more flammable than gas! My advice would be to go back to the Nail Salon where you got your nails done and let them remove them for you. Not only will they remove them, they'll probably give you a manicure which you'll really need after taking the acrylic off!
It will take awhile, but soak them in acidtone (spelling?) nail polish remover and you will have to carefully pick them off
Yes, soak your nails in Acetone nail polish remover, and they will be easy to just peel off
you need to soak them in acentone nail polish remover or plane acentone, what every you do DO NOT PRY THEM OFF as you are removing them they are taking layers off of your nails, make sure you go get a very good nail strengthner or nail repair polish, been there and done that and will never do it again
soak them in acetone and they will come off easily
    S-O-A-K THEM IN ACETONE.

Use the torture process that they use in the salons, lift them and pull them off with a manicure tool.

Let them grow off, but this can be a little risky, because when your nails get too soft, you are likely to get them caught on something, because they turn backwards so easily then.

    Good Luck!

How do you take acrylic nails off?

They are really hard to get off? Do you know of any products or techniques i can use?How do you take acrylic nails off?
Soak your hands in Pure Acetone for 10-20 minutes(Maybe a little longer.) Then take something like a Orangewood stick, and push on the nail..How do you take acrylic nails off?
if you go to a nail salon they'll take em off for you.

what they usually do (you might be able to try this at home) is:

    - clip off the acrylic tips without cutting any of your own nail that's grown

    - soak your nails in remover for like 15 minutes

    - use a nail clipper (the edge of it) or an extra fake nail to lift the remaining acrylic off your finger nails

    - then buff your nails to smooth it out

its really not that hard once you soak your nails. but if you do it at home, soak it for longer than 15 minutes
pure acetone, you can even buy it at Wal-Mart, put it in a bowl and let it soak for like 20 minutes or until you see it melting off, wipe it off slowly with paper towels, and if its not off yet, soak it some more, repeat if necessary

Is there an ouchless way to remove acrylic nails?

I am pregnant, so chemicals are iffy. What ways can I remove them w/out going back to the salon and spending more money? Is there an ouchless way to remove acrylic nails?
Creative makes a product called ';Product Remover'; it is a gentle remover, soak for at least 20 minutes straight, then using a orange-wood stick scrape off product, soak again if necessary, which it will be. OPI makes a high quality acetone, process is the same. It's Ouchless but This is a messy job, disposal of product and having the mess in your home.

Or you could cut them short and file the edges, and you could let them grow out a bit, but don't use a coarse file on your nails, leave it to the professionals, you don't want to thin out your new growth of natural nail.

To soak off nails, I charge $30.00, it's about an hour and you get a manicure afterward, So ask the salon if they do this and what they charge $$$, it will be less headache for you in the end.

Getting your nails done is fine while you are pregnant, many of my clients and stylists in the salon have continued to do so while pregnant and have had 2,3,4 kids, all beautiful, healthy children.

A lot of first time pregnant women are a little too cautious worry about every thing, you are going to make yourself crazy, but remember you are not eating or drinking these products!

Nails are fine, are you enjoying them? Then why not continue...Does the salon have a ventilation system? Ask if they can use it before, during and after your appt. And if they don't, go find a place which does have a ventilation system.

Good Luck with whatever you decide to do.Is there an ouchless way to remove acrylic nails?
I agree with the first answer. They have nail remover just about anywhere you would can buy nail polish.

It comes in a little tub full of the remover. You stick your finger in it and it has a little brush on the sides, and you just move your finger up and down until it is lose enough to just pull off the rest.

It is somewhat of a pain since you can only do one nail at a time, so it is very time consuming. However, it will take all of it off w/o hurting, or damaging your nails.

As far as being pregnant, I don't think it is a problem. I think it is basically a strong nail polish remover. I don't recall hearing anything about nail polish remover causing birth defects, and would think it wouldn't be any worse than the fumes from the acrylic stuff.
If your pregnant, you should really avoid soaking your nails in the remover solution, as many warn this is linked to birth defects. Your best bet is to add the color polish your nails are to the topof the nailbed and handfill them yourself until they grow ot some more. Th process will be easier if you're patient.
cut them down and use a gritty nail file to get the majority off then a less gritty until acrylic is so thin it pops off or it can't be seen. then buff to shine
ive gotten this problem before..i went out and bought some nail remover and soaked them for 20 minutes..it worked. if ur gonna try this make sure you dnt buy some random cheap polish remover
    u can buff them down

i know it's tiring but it worked..

i did it in my beauty school to a client before
    i don't know

What is the best way to get acrylic nails off with out acetone?

File them down as thin as you can without damaging the natural nail underneath, and wait for them to grow out. If you keep a couple of coats of polish over what's left it can keep it from feeling/looking so uneven. Do not, under any circumstances, let anyone talk you into having them popped or ripped off. It's horrible for your nails. What is the best way to get acrylic nails off with out acetone?

How to take care for your new acrylic nails?

i just got them done yesterday and i was wondering how to take care of them? and i know that you need them to be filled every 2-3 weeks. and also when do i have to take them off? thanks. How to take care for your new acrylic nails?
I have been a nail tech for 7 years and this is what you should do.

    1. Always keep them clean under neath

    2. if you want to take them off let them grow out and get homework done ( when the acrylic is filed down to your natural nail so that it looks like your own) it usually takes about 4-6 weeks for them to come off depending on nail growth rate and how long the tip is.

    3. if you don't want to do ';homework then have them removed by a pro. they will take them off gently and give you a manicure too.

when acrylic binds to your natural nail it will lift the ';skin'; of the nail so when you get a manicure it helps that ';skin'; adhear again.

    My advise to anyone...

if you already have nice nails and you don't bite them then stick to manicures. Acrylic ruins your natural nail. I tell all my clients that if they have nice nail i will not put acrylic on them.

however if your a nail biter, you will probably start tearing them off your self anyways and this can harm your nail. you can google acrylic nail disorders on the internet and you will see what can happen if they are not taking cared of properlyHow to take care for your new acrylic nails?
if u dont plan on filling them, get them off when they start growing, otherwise they look nasty. make sure u dont get food or dirtunderneath them. its gross. so wash ur hands, scrub ur nails...i say every other month or two, get a new set,
i used to get mine, down but always ripped them off. you will too, trust me. And oh yeah, you cant do things i do now, with nails:)
Its Not that Difficult;Yes get them done every 2 weeks,%26amp;Then You have to take them Off by the third Refilling,%26amp; put new Ones.

Make sure the place you Do your nails is a CleanPlace
place them in a clean place

How can i remove my contact lenses if i wear acrylic nails?

i LOVE getting my nails done but i just got contact lenses. Fortunately when i got them one of my nails had broke off so i've been using that finger , I can remove them with my other fingers but it takes much longer and is harder. Do you have any suggestions or tricks to get them out while wearing acrylic nails? How can i remove my contact lenses if i wear acrylic nails?
I agree about using the sides of your fingers. Also I would suggest you keeping the nails shorter for a couple weeks so that you can get the hang of it if you are someone who likes real long acrylic nails. You'll get it :)How can i remove my contact lenses if i wear acrylic nails?
i don't think that you can have acrylic nails and contact lenses because you are going to tear the contacts and scratch your eyes. just give up those nails if you want contacts or get some glasses. if you still like manicures then, just get them painted with your already short nails.
you need to have very dry hands (and also clean!!) to ensure the contant lense will stick to your fingers more easily. Wet or damp fingers will slip on the lenses. With long nails, i would suggest just using the sides of your fingers.
visit your optometrist for some tricks. it sounds dangerous to me -you can still wear acrylics, but a bit shorter. you might try using your finger pads to remove them.
Just use the sides of your fingers :-)
    Use your feet.

  • Would you personally go to the salon to get Acrylic Nails put on or your Natural Nails Manicured?

Acrylics. People can more easily do maniucures on their own.Would you personally go to the salon to get Acrylic Nails put on or your Natural Nails Manicured?
If I had nice nails, I would have my nails manicured, but if my nails were too short, too wierd shaped, I would go for acrylic. I am a terrible nail biter, have only been to the salon once for a manicure, and I loved it and it actually did help me to stop biting my nails. I would probably do a acrylic instead next time however, just to see how it goes.Would you personally go to the salon to get Acrylic Nails put on or your Natural Nails Manicured?
i used to get acrylic nails and my nails are fine! i used to bite my nails like crazy so i would get acrylics because i love long nails. pros of acrylic: long lasting, long length, you can design them, easy to maintain cons they cost money to put on and fill if and only if somehow it got ripped off it hurts like heck, if you go to a ';dirty salon'; it is possible to get an infection. I stopped biting my nails so i now have long pretty nails and i am lucky my nails are a nice shape almost look like acrylics
You've probobly heard this tons of times but acrylics are horrible for your nails. I grow mine out and get natural manicures which look just as good and sometimes better. If you are looking for fancy, go with a french manicure because it looks nice when your nails are natural.
Manicure it doesnt risk your nails being damaged. And Acrylic are pricy. CAuse you have to keep filling. AND Acrylic ruin your natural nail.
I would just get them manicured. Acrylic nails are too much of a hassle and take forever to get off. You also have to fill them. They hurt, too.
well it depends i love acrylic but when you dont have the money to get them taken off and you rip them off it hurts! manicures are nice to but they chip easier.
    NOOO.
    I do my nails natural.
way to ask this question two times ...

    and yeah i personally would...

Why do I get bubbles around the edges of my acrylic nails?

my acrylics look fine for like two days, but I always get little air bubbles around the edges. I get a fill every two weeks, they cut off the part of the acrylic nail that unglued from my nail. Why don't my nails last? Why do I get bubbles around the edges of my acrylic nails?
They are not good quality. Why do I get bubbles around the edges of my acrylic nails?
you could have oily nails or if you get them wet a lot they will do that. have you tried getting them done by another manicurist? it could just be how good the manucurist is.
They usually do that when the person that is putting them on for you doesn't really care about the quality of his work. I would first try to go to another person and if that doesn't work maybe you need to try a better quality of nail like the solar nail. I have liked them much better than the acrylic nails because they look more natural and the product isn't as thick at it is when you get acrylics put on.

    Good luck!!!
the person who is doing them are doing them wrong or not putting enough primer on before doing them . If you have dry nail beds this will happen .

How much cost in a salon to have done the acrylic nails?

I am wondering the price, thanks. How much cost in a salon to have done the acrylic nails?
Usually around 30 to 40 dollars

Have you had acrylic nails before? What happened to your natural nails when you took them off?

Also, how long did you have your acrylic nails on and how long did it take for your regular nails to go back to normal? ThanksHave you had acrylic nails before? What happened to your natural nails when you took them off?
I've had acrylic nails many times. my natural nails were really thin since they sand them when they do it(most places sand the nails). i cut my nails short after i take off the acrylic nails. this way, my nails grow back thicker and stronger.

hope this helped :)Have you had acrylic nails before? What happened to your natural nails when you took them off?
The amount of damage to your natural nail depends on the person who did your nails and what type of product they used. I personally do not over-file the natural nail and I do not use a drill on them either. I use only quality products. That way when a client wants to take off their enhancements the damage to the natural nail is very minimal. It should take about 3 to 4 months for your natural nail to grow out.
even though i love getting fake nails, and i absolutely love how they look, i'd suggest not doing it. It takes a little while to get used to them, and they stay on from anywhere from... about 3-4weeks, maybe more depending how well the person did and if u take care of them. But once u get them done, the people at the mani/pedi salon want u to come back every 3 weeks to get them filled. Once they come off, your nails are really really thin and damaged. My acrylic nails just fell off about 4 weeks ago and they still aren't grown back all the way. I'd say it takes about 6 weeks to grow back
I highly recomend you get gels instead of achrylics. I'm addicted to getting my nails done and I got achrylics for months. The white on achrylics tend to get dirty and break easily unlike gels and I gaurentee more people will complement them, the use a uv light after they put them on which makes them super shiny and the white stays brand new looking! Do gels not achrylics :D
it makes your natural nails really thin and frail, but they will grow back
they peel off and then you bleed to death

How long will it take to get a pedicure and acrylic nails?

Can I do them both on my lunch hour on one day, or should I schedule them on different days? If I should do them on different days, which one should I do first (which one will last longer?)How long will it take to get a pedicure and acrylic nails?
Each takes about 45 mins to an hour. How long will it take to get a pedicure and acrylic nails?
if you have an hour lunch break you would be rushed, but its not impossible. you also have to take in consideration the distance from your work and how long the nail place will take.

for quality acrlylics, they could take from 25 minutes to 40.

pedicure is 30 minutes to 45.

you could do both at the same time at some salons.

but i know some dont do acrylics while doing pedicures.

your best bet is to just go on a day you won't be rushed and have enough time to do both.
pedicure takes longer. I would do it on two different days so u arent rushed. and it depends on how long ur lunch break is. nails takes about ten to twenty minutes and pedicure takes about twenty to forty minutes. also depends where you get them done at. some places take longer than others.

Would nail polish fade on acrylic nails if i go swimming?

Usually when i go swimming, the nail polish, on my natural nails, fades a bit because of the chlorine. I was wondering if this was the same with acrylic nails? Would the nail polish fade in the same way?Would nail polish fade on acrylic nails if i go swimming?
If you have a high quality top coat it should not fade at all it should be fade resistant and an uv protectant.

  • How do you get rid of acrylic nails?

Without having to go to a salon or something. The nails are the one where they super glue the french tip then put that clear stuff over the whole nail lolHow do you get rid of acrylic nails?
if their old then You can pull them off carefully. If their new im not sure. How do you get rid of acrylic nails?
bite off the tip then get something thin and sharp and dig under the rest
you have to soak them in acetone or regular nail polish remover. just pour some in a bowl and soak for about a half hour, you will want to cover the bowl and your hands with a wash cloth so the vapors dont get to you. the fake nails will disolve and that way your real nails won't break off. thats the way they do it at the salon. once all the arcrylic is off you can buff your nails to get rid if any residue.
Your natural nails can't breathe %26amp; are screwed anyway so try soaking/coating them in acetone (nail polish remover) that should desolve them or the glue or both, or try eucalyptus oil - it's awsome stuff! Or so I'm told...
If you go where you got them done they will take them off for you usually free of charge sometimes $5. Your nails are damaged but they do a little bit better at saving them than you probably could.
um hun u might wanna use some nail polish remover and soak them for awhile then take them off they should peel right off if u soak them long enough never pry them off u will hurt ur real nail okay good luck!!!
Soak them in acteone nail polish remover for a long time then gently, very gently, use an 'orange stick' or cuticle stick and gently pry them from the outside edges. If they don't lift, soak them some more. (some stores even sell acrylic nail remover)....
buy pure acetone nail polish remover and soak them in it and then pry them off thats all the salon will do and you can buy a huge bottle of it at a beauty supply store and it will still be cheaper than paying the salon to do it for you-make sure there is acetone in the remover if it is non-acetone remover it will not work as well
You have to soak them in nail polish remover to soften them and they slip off, I believe.
I usually pry mine off with a pocket knife.
u can use i think alcohol or nail polish remover

soak ur hands in it for awhile should come off easily.

Any tips on learning to do acrylic nails?

I just started school to be a nail technician and we are learning acrylic nails. and it's really hard for me! Are there any tricks anyone knows?Any tips on learning to do acrylic nails?
    Practice, practice, practice.

If you have not already heard that, you will. It takes a LOT of practice to get good at doing nails. Have patience and just keep practicing. A few tips:

    - Nail school is not always the best place to learn nails. Yes, this sounds kind of strange, but you will learn so much more after you are out if school and actually doing it for a living than you ever learned in school. Nail schools all too often employ instructors who really do not know how to do nails all that well. Sad but true. I hear it all the time from people who say that they feel like they didn't learn a thing in nail school. And often, they really haven't. But, its something that you have to do in order to get licensed, so at least you are on your way. Don't get me wrong though, you may be lucky and have some really good people teaching you and that would be a great thing. But it still is not until after school ends, and your career begins that you will really start to learn.

    - Always practice as much as you possibly can. You say you have just started? Well, try going to the Tammy Taylor site and downloading the practice sheets. They are free. You may have gotten them given to you at school, I don't know. If not, download it, print it out, and laminate it. Then practice your application with it. Its a great place to start. Also try using dowels with tips glued to them. You can hold them the same way you do a finger. Thats a good way to practice too. When you get to the point of working on people, then don't be too nervous. Just remember all you have learned, and go for it. Take your time, and do it right. Your application time will be very long at first, but with practice, it will improve drastically. My first set of P%26amp;W's took me 5 hours to complete! Now I can do them in an hour and a half. Some people can do them in an hour or less. You'll get there, so don't worry how long it takes you in the beginning. Just worry about technique, and concentrate on doing them right. The speed will come in time. Just don't ever try to learn, or compete with the 'discount' salons. They do nails the 'wrong' way. They skip many steps, and don't practice good sanitation and disinfection procedures. Don't ever compare yourself to them. Just because they may do a full set in 30 minutes is meaningless. They are not doing things the right way. I have yet to see even one that does. They are NOT your competition, and should not be looked at as such. You will charge more because your services will be better than theirs, and you will use better products, and you will care about your work - they don't care about their clients. Its as simple as that.

    - Don't get too hooked on the products thay use at school. There are many good product lines out there, and some bad ones too. I don't know what you are using, but it really doesn't matter right now. What does matter is that once you get out of school, or close to it, that you contact some of the major nail companies and purchase some try-me kits. A few companies will send you these kits for free, but you will have to pay for most of them. They usually cost about $100 or so for a professional size kit, though some are much less than that. My suggestion is that you try as many product lines as you can before you decide on one that you would like to use. They all have their good points, and their bad points as well. A few of the very top companies are:

Entity Beauty - Some of the best acrylic products made. Absolutely the best Kolinsky brush in the market is made by them, though it is a bit pricey - its well worth it. Get the Studio Brush, IMO. They have another called the ';Couture'; brush, but many techs don't really like the handle, and its about $10 more than the Studio. But really, hands down the best brush available.

Creative Nail Design - The original nail product company. This is where it all began. They make some good products but many people have issues with it, such as lifting (especially pocket lifting), and it is quite ratio sensitive. A little too wet, or a little too dry, and you are going to have problems. But if you can master it, it is a great product, no doubt one of the very best.

Tammy Taylor - She has some good products, and many nail techs have been using her stuff for years nad years with no problems. Many swear by it. She also has some great educational DVD's out. You can also find her on Youtube. Just do a search there, and you'll find some of her tips and tricks. She holds the world record time for a full set of nails. From beginning to end, in front of a live audience, she did a full set of P%26amp;W's in just 17 minutes!!!!

Young Nails - A great nail company. The best customer service available. Also some really top quality nail products. They have good educational opportunities as well.

    - Attend trade shows %26amp; Networking Events. These will give you the chance to see some of the products I mentioned being used by top techs, and some more companies as well. The networking Events are a great resource for meeting others in the industry. I love them! They can be a lot of fun to attend. Don't be afraid to travel to one either because some may be quite a distance from where you live. Same for training classes. Probably the very best show in existence is called Premiere Orlando - in Orlando, Florida. People fly in from all over the country to go to this event. Its held in the beginning of June - depending on the year. Its http://www.premiereshows.com/ for the current schedule and info. If you can go, most definitely do it. If there is only one show you can attend, this is it. It is a two day event, so bring your walking shoes, and try to bring some cash or credit cards (Oh, I use them too much at this show!), because you will want one of each thing you see, I swear!

If you do go, make your hotel reservations EARLY as they will fill up very quickly. I would suggest making reservations in the beginning of the new year, no later. There is not a better trade show than this one. You will meet so many people there too, including some of the biggest names in the industry. And that is an important thing to do if you are serious about doing nails. There are some really great people in the industry, so get out and start meeting them.

    - Take classes held by nail companies. Many companies offer training classes. These can range between $50-$300 per day. But they are really worth it. Get all the training you can get. Start now if you can possibly do it. Do your research on it. You'll find the info you need, and once you start going to classes, you will meet other techs, and they will be able to fill you in on other classes available.

    - Last . Your instructors will not teach you everything. And their method is not the only one out there, and may not be the best one for you. You have to go out and learn most of it on your own. Do this through classes, shows, network events, going to salons and watching other techs at work (lots of them are open to this, but some are really kind of closed-minded about it, so you may get mixed reactions). You'll find some, though, who will let you watch for a few hours, and ask questions and stuff like that. Don't give up on this. You can find them if you really want to.

Sorry this has been so long, but you asked for it!

Best of luck to you in your new career.Any tips on learning to do acrylic nails?
    practice makes perfect
I'm not a nail tech but I bet you could learn alot by going to the nail salons and watching how they apply the acrylic, then practice, find some guinne pigs to work on. Good luck, great hustle.
I would help, but to be totally honest, I have no idea what that is.

What can I do instead of acrylic nails?

I like the way they look, but I really don't like the way they feel. My natural nails are thin so they never get very long. Is there anything that a manicurist can do instead of acrylics to make them look/grow better? What can I do instead of acrylic nails?
they can put the acrylic on your nail, or also you can get a silk nails which is a little more expensive. if you want your nails to grow better just buy sally hansen growth nail polish or buy the Nutra Nail Green tea Nail Growth Treatment that the one i always buy and it makes my nails nicer and grow really fast

Start taking Flaxseed vitamins and soon you will have long strong nails. It will also help your hair grow. I have been taking flaxseed for years and I always have long natural nails and my hair looks the same like in High school. I have a lot of hair (bleached blonde) and its to my waist. By the way, Im hitting 40! So, it works!
You can get nail strengthening treatments done at most manicure places, and some also have vitamin supplement pills that help your nails to grow healthier

I always regret getting my nails done, they are such a pain in the a**! Anyone know of any tips for removing them at home that might not be as painful as just ripping them off with nail clippers? Thanks =)What's the easiest way to remove these dang acrylic nails?
Soak them in Acetone for about an hour or so (sometimes longer) and file them to remove the excess acrylic. =DWhat's the easiest way to remove these dang acrylic nails?
soaking them in acetone is one way, another one is placing acetone soaked cotton balls on top of the nails and wrapping them with foil paper. it looks funny but it works! we always try this at school. hope this helps. =]

What can I use/do to make it easier?

How do I take them off?!?

I've only had these dark purple tips for 1 week and I'm already sick of them! How can I take off my acrylic nails by myself?
i feel you! its hard to type with fake nails.

but you can soak your nails in acetone nail polish remover.. just pour some in a cup and soak your nails in it for about 5-10 min, and it will losen your nails to come off easierHow can I take off my acrylic nails by myself?
when I had acrylic nails, I soaked mine in nail polish remover and ripped them off because they were getting disgusting.

on the side (where the tip starts) poke at it until it makes a crack and do it to all your nails, it will be less painful to take them off.
I slide a credit card arond the nail until i find a loose point. Then i gently push the card under the nail until it pops off. It can be a little painful on some nails but it goes a lot faster than soaking them off with acetone.
    it can hurt

but take nail clippers the kind for toenails

and clip them off as much as you can this will crack the acrylic making so you can take most of them off

or PURE acetone will dissolve them away
Girl dont do ti by yourself i tried and died it was painful and afterwards my nails looked really bad and unhealthy

Just get them taken off or get a new color they will cahnge color for like 5-10 bucks
use pure acetone, soak them for 40 min... its pain free!
    soak in pure acetone

Does anyone know how to get acrylic nails off?

I would like to get them off without ruining my nails underneath. Any suggestions?Does anyone know how to get acrylic nails off?
besides ruining your nails underneath it hurts so bad to pull them off! go back to the salon where you got them done and they can take them off for you

=]Does anyone know how to get acrylic nails off?
I think you have to go to a salon because I heard it hurt like you can't believe to take them of themselves.
One; let them just grow and they will eventually come off. (j/k)

You can get some ';acetone'; fingernail polish remover (but this will take a long time) and soak them. About every 5 minutes scrape them with your fingernails or get a buffer and buff them off. Soak/buff/soak/buff.

Do not use non-acetone, it wont work!
Soak them in acetone until they melt and use a pusher to clean the acrylic off.
ok first thing to do is soak them in nail polish remover until they melt off in a way. As soon as they come off buff your nail and rub garlic on your nails. Trust me its going to stink but the garlic and some clear nail polish will do the strick to make it easier put the garlic in the clear nail polish. Ive done this many times in my life after a while i stopped with the acrylic and just wrapped my nails until they were long enough to handle them natural.
Well a beautician once told me that the best thing to get acrylic nails off with without ruining your nails is by adding a little bit of vinegar and a pinch of salt with warm water.

Comes off so easy and i've never looked back cause it doesn't damage my nails

    good luck x
Soak them in Pure Acetone. You can buy it at Sally Beauty Supply and that is what the salons do to remove them. You will still have the slight ridges, but you can buff and polish and no one will notice unless you point it out!
used to do nails for a living...

to do it at home... buy a bottle of pure acetone and soak em for a while and in between soaks you'll see the acrylic melting off... take a buffer and buff it off ... keep doing this process till your actually buffering your real nails...

    good luck
    acetone nail polish remover.
