How long can you leave acrylic nails on, before you have to take them off?

I had a full set of acrylic nails done the end of January, I have had them filled twice, it is now time to have them filled again. Should i have them removed and a new set put on, or is it still ok to fill?How long can you leave acrylic nails on, before you have to take them off?
I usually get mine filled 5 or 6 times before taking them off or before they go yellow. They go yellow quicker if you smoke. I don't smoke so they take long before they go yellow. O it's sometimes good to avoid working with curry etc. they make them change color to, it goes off usually but not always. Good luck. There's nothing really bad with continuing to get fills. It's just that when the acrylic begins to yellow, they look really ugly.
