Can acrylic nails be worn when having an operation?

I am due to have a cerclage removed in four weeks. (A cerclage is a stitch around the cervix to be able to prolong a pregnancy). I am having it removed under a spinal block. Thing is I have acrylic nails and wondered if anyone knew if they need to be removed (I can't remember), I know nail polish has to be removed, that is why I ask. Any info appreciated. Can acrylic nails be worn when having an operation?
no, not normally.

they have to be able to see your nail beds, if you aren't getting enough oxygen during the procedure, they'll start to turn blue/purpleCan acrylic nails be worn when having an operation?
nurses will remove it for you if you don't.. the nails are a good indicator if your having oxygenation problems during the opration.. also having acrylic nails will disrupt the sensors of the pulse oximeter attached to your finger..
No. That is how they can tell if you are getting enough oxygen. As a body shuts down, the fingers and toes are the first to be starved in order to save the important things like heart, lungs, brain. They can see if your oxy levels are starting to go.
