I think you're old enough if it's only for a very special occasion, like being a junior bridesmaid at a relatives wedding, but you are too young to have them on a regular basis or just for fun. Remember, there's nothing wrong with having your own natural nails and taking care of them and making sure they're well groomed.How old do you think some one should be to get acrylic nails on?
Maybe getting acrylic nails at 12 is better than older because then the nail can strengthen faster when they are taking off and this gives you a change to see if you like that before causing permanent damage to your nails.

don't get acrylics--they absolutely RUIN your nails! the trick i figured out to get my nails to grow long (mine are really weak) is to buy sally hansen diamond strength nail hardener clearn polish or any of the sally hansen maximum growth plus nourishment nail color. keep your nails painted with the good polishes like this and they'll grow instead of being ruined by acrylic nails.
i guess if you want them go ahead...they hurt when you its time to take them off though
